USAF MARS Region One will hold a winter exercise "Exercise Deep Freeze 2007" scheduled for 10 February 2007. The chairperson for planning and coordination is Jim Edmonds AFA1CM from New York.

This execise will focus on "Deployable Resources", and "Emergency Power", two areas that are extremely critical to disaster back-up communications. During the months of November, December and January there will be emphasis placed on aspects of this operation for the 1S1 nets, with participation bonus for those that meet the criteria of these practice elements.

There are three 'classes' of station that will be operating in this exercise:

1. DEPLOYED those that wish to establish a working station at a location other than their home QTH. Where possible, through contact and coordination, to locate at a served agency location. However any non home QTH venue is permissable

2. EMG POWER operation from the home QTH on emergency power.

3. HOME normal operation from the home QTH.
