ARRL Official Observer Sites

Here are a couple of very intresting web sites worthy of a visit. Both present an excellent discussion of the ARRL OO program and an outstanding number of technical discussions on a number of areas that hams (and MARS members) should explore. Nearly all of "us" "get rusty" after a while and need some refresher training in the technical aspects of our choosen hobby.
The first is by Duane Traver, WV2B the Western New York OOC. http://www.stpaulisland.net/oo.html. The second is by John Teer, AK5Z the South Texas Section OOC http://observer.teer.org/oo-overview.htm.

With the ever increasing bad weather events, the chances of loosing your primary commercial electrical source becomes a greater reality. Some members have on-going projects or completed energy sources for the "just in case" times. If you have an alternate energy source you would like to share with the group please email your information and pictures to AFF1W for inclusion in this forum.

MISCELLANEOUS TECH NOTES
Desktop Homeland Security Alert Status

If you are interested in putting the Homeland Security Alert Display on your Desktop,
click on this URL http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/display?theme=29.
Once it is loaded simply go to the Home Land Security Display up in the right hand corner and double right click on it and select (set as desktop item). Once on the desktop simply click on the small Down arrow in the upper left hand gray area that appears only when you move the curser at top of HLSA display. Another display will appear and all you need then is click on synchronize.
