Jack D. Forbing, 63 of Fort Wayne Indiana, passed away Friday, February 29th, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Jack was born in Fort Wayne on December 24, 1944. He served in the US Army and Air Force. Jack was a General class ham, K9LSB, for over 50 years and a mars member for over 35 years. He served as Assistant SMD and then three consecutive tours as State MARS Director for Indiana. He was also appointed as the Indiana MARS VHF director for a number of years.
Jack was also a 15+ year member of the CAP, serving at the rank of Major as the CAP Regional Communications Officer. He was a lifetime member of ARRL and President of a Fort Wayne VHF repeater club; the repeater belonged to and was installed by Jack.
Burial will take place on 5 March 2008 at the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Diabetes Association or Allen County Heart Association.
A fitting tribute was that made by a friend, Ed, AFA1QW, "Above everything else, Jack was a true AFMARS supporter, Over many years he did put much time into trying make the program better and stronger, especially within the state."
